Why teams switch

Common reasons to leave HubSpot CMS

01

A new layout means a new module

Anything the theme's drag-and-drop areas can't do needs a custom HubL module and that goes to a developer. In Webflow, your team builds pages from prepared components on its own.

02

Content Hub comes up for review

Content Hub seats and tiers are a line item teams look at again at every renewal. Especially when they mostly pay for those features to run the website.

03

The theme sets the design

Step outside the theme and you're back in the design manager. In Webflow, we build the design that fits your product and keep it consistent through components.

04

Keep the CRM, not the site builder

Many teams want HubSpot as their CRM but a website tool built for websites. That works, because HubSpot forms and tracking also run on external sites.

HubSpot CMS

  • Drag-and-drop editor inside the theme and its HubL modules.
  • Blog plus HubDB tables for dynamic pages.
  • Smart content and A/B tests in the page editor, from Content Hub Professional.
  • Language variants that form a multi-language group per page.
  • Forms, CTAs and contact data in the same system.

Webflow

  • Visual editor with components from your design system.
  • CMS Collections with reference and multi-reference fields.
  • A/B tests and personalization through Webflow Optimize.
  • Webflow Localization with locale subfolders and automatic hreflang tags.
  • HubSpot forms embedded via the app, tracking code on every page.

What moves

What comes over from HubSpot

Some of it moves into Webflow, some stays in HubSpot and is simply embedded. The rest is rebuilt or replaced.

  • Migrated
  • Partly
  • Rebuilt
  • Replaced
  • Blog posts

    Migrated

HubSpot exports every post as HTML and the post data as a CSV. We clean up the markup and import content, authors and tags into Collections.

  • Website and landing pages

    Rebuilt

Themes, templates and HubL modules can't be carried over. We rebuild the pages in Webflow and turn recurring modules into components.

  • HubDB tables

    Partly

We export the tables as CSV and import them into Collections. The dynamic page templates that use them are rebuilt in Webflow.

  • HubSpot forms

    Migrated

Your forms stay in HubSpot. We embed them in Webflow through the HubSpot app, as an iframe or via developer embed in your own styling.

  • Tracking, chat and CTAs

    Migrated

The HubSpot tracking code goes on every page. That keeps live chat, pop-up CTAs and page view tracking for your contacts running.

  • Redirects

    Migrated

The URL redirects tool exports every rule as a CSV. We check them against the URL inventory and recreate them in Webflow.

  • Smart content and page tests

    Replaced

Smart modules and smart forms only work on HubSpot pages and so do A/B tests from the page editor. Whatever performs, we set up again with Webflow Optimize or fixed variants.

  • Private content

    Replaced

Content Hub memberships have no built-in equivalent in Webflow. That takes an external tool, or the gated area stays on a HubSpot subdomain.

For your marketing

What keeps running for your marketing

Rankings are only one part. We also protect everything your team uses to measure leads and pipeline.

Tracking and attribution

GA4, the tag manager, UTM parameters and conversion events keep running from day one. In Webflow we add the tag manager once, site-wide, behind your consent banner. Before launch we compare every event on staging with the old site.

Forms and CRM

We embed your HubSpot forms on the new site. They keep sending into your HubSpot CRM with the same lead source, lifecycle stage and workflows. We check test leads right in the CRM.

Demo booking

Demo and contact pages, calendars like HubSpot Meetings, Calendly or Chili Piper and your chat stay in place. Old demo URLs from ads, emails and sales decks redirect straight to the new page.

Visibility in AI search

Structured data, clear headings and an up-to-date sitemap are in place from launch. That helps Google and AI search like ChatGPT or Perplexity find your pages again quickly.

To be honest

When you're better off staying on HubSpot CMS

  • Smart content drives your conversions

If pages that adapt by lifecycle stage or list clearly convert better, we do the math before that logic goes away.

  • A customer portal depends on the CMS

Webflow no longer has built-in gated content behind a login. In that case, that part is better kept in HubSpot.

  • The theme works, only the look is dated

If your team already builds landing pages without a developer, a new HubSpot theme is often the shorter route.

  • Content Hub is paid for either way

If the move saves no budget and fixes no concrete day-to-day problem, there's no reason for the effort.

Frequently asked questions about migrating from HubSpot to Webflow

What B2B SaaS teams want to know before moving from HubSpot to Webflow.

Do we have to leave HubSpot completely?

No. Only the website moves to Webflow. Your CRM, Marketing Hub, emails, workflows and contact data stay in HubSpot and so do your forms.

Do our HubSpot forms work on Webflow?

Yes. The HubSpot app for Webflow embeds them as an iframe or, with Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, via developer embed in your own styling. The new domain has to be listed in HubSpot's tracking settings.

What happens to tracking, chat, CTAs and meetings?

The tracking code goes on every Webflow page, which is what makes live chat and pop-up CTAs appear. Embedded CTAs and meeting calendars are added with their embed code from HubSpot.

What do we lose on the website?

Smart modules and smart forms only run on HubSpot pages, as do A/B tests from the page editor and memberships. Smart CTAs do work on external sites. For testing and personalization, there's Webflow Optimize.

Do our HubSpot redirects keep working?

No. HubSpot only redirects for domains it hosts. We export the list as a CSV and recreate the rules in Webflow, using wildcard patterns where it makes sense.

What happens to our HubDB pages?

We export the HubDB tables as CSV and import them into Webflow Collections. How many CMS items your Webflow plan allows is something we check in the inventory.
