Why teams switch

Common reasons to leave TYPO3

01

Every major upgrade turns into a project

Each LTS version gets three years of free support. After that you upgrade or pay for extended support. If one extension isn't ready, the whole upgrade waits.

02

Small changes go through the agency

A new content element or a landing page with a new layout needs Fluid, TypoScript and a deployment. In Webflow, your team builds pages from prepared components.

03

The backend is built for bigger teams

Page tree, backend groups and language overlays suit large editorial teams. A small marketing team spends more time finding things than writing.

04

Servers and PHP are still your problem

TYPO3 needs hosting, PHP updates and deployments that someone owns. Webflow handles hosting, security and platform updates.

What moves

What comes over from TYPO3

The content moves, the technology behind it doesn't. Before we start, every part of your installation has a clear answer.

  • Migrated
  • Partly
  • Rebuilt
  • Replaced
  • Page content

    Migrated

We extract text and images from content elements such as Text & Media and map them to the new components.

  • News and records

    Migrated

Records from extensions like news become CMS Collections, with categories, authors and publish dates.

  • Page tree

    Partly

The hierarchy carries over as URL structure. Branches that only existed for navigation or permissions get reorganized.

  • Language versions

    Partly

Translations move into Webflow Localization. Where a translation is missing, the locale inherits the primary language. We decide page by page whether that's what you want.

  • SEO fields

    Migrated

Page titles, descriptions and canonicals from the page properties carry over per page and language.

  • Fluid templates

    Rebuilt

Layouts, templates and partials can't be transferred. We rebuild them as Webflow components with variables.

  • Forms

    Rebuilt

Forms from the Form Framework or powermail get rebuilt in Webflow, CRM connection included and every submission is tested.

  • Extensions and login areas

    Replaced

Every extension gets an answer: Webflow feature, app, custom code or drop it. Areas behind a frontend login get a separate review.

For your marketing

What keeps running for your marketing

Rankings are only one part. We also protect everything your team uses to measure leads and pipeline.

Tracking and attribution

GA4, the tag manager, UTM parameters and conversion events keep running from day one. In Webflow we add the tag manager once, site-wide, behind your consent banner. Before launch we compare every event on staging with the old site.

Forms and CRM

We replace Powermail and TYPO3 Form Framework forms with Webflow forms or embedded HubSpot forms. Fields, hidden fields for the lead source and the handover to HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive stay the same. We check test leads right in the CRM.

Demo booking

Demo and contact pages, calendars like HubSpot Meetings, Calendly or Chili Piper and your chat stay in place. Old demo URLs from ads, emails and sales decks redirect straight to the new page.

Visibility in AI search

Structured data, clear headings and an up-to-date sitemap are in place from launch. That helps Google and AI search like ChatGPT or Perplexity find your pages again quickly.

To be honest

When you should stay on TYPO3

  • Your intranet or extranet runs on the same install

If employees, customers or partners log in to see protected content, you need more than a marketing website platform.

  • Your permission model matters to the business

Rights down to page tree branch, language and field: Webflow roles don't go that deep.

  • Custom extensions carry business logic

Configurators, dealer locators or ERP and PIM connections would have to be rebuilt somewhere else.

  • Your install is current and changes are quick

If your site runs on a supported LTS version and your team works well with it, the platform alone is rarely a reason to switch.

Frequently asked questions about migrating from TYPO3 to Webflow

What B2B SaaS teams want to know before moving from TYPO3 to Webflow.

Can Webflow import a TYPO3 site directly?

No. We extract the content from TYPO3 and bring it into your Collections via CSV or the Webflow API. Design and templates get rebuilt in Webflow.

Our TYPO3 version is reaching end of support. Upgrade or migrate?

It depends on the effort. If a major upgrade with many customized extensions is ahead, a migration can be a similar amount of work. We compare both paths before you decide.

What happens to our language versions?

Each language becomes a locale in Webflow Localization, with its own subdirectory such as /de/. Publishing additional languages requires a Localization add-on. We work out which one fits during the inventory.

How do our backend permissions translate to Webflow?

Webflow uses roles such as Content editor, Marketer and Designer, with custom roles on Enterprise. There are no rights per page tree branch or field. We check up front whether that works for your team.

How do redirects work in Webflow?

You add 301 redirects in the site settings, one by one, as wildcard patterns or through CSV import. Locale subdirectories need their own rules. We import the full plan before launch.

Will we still need a TYPO3 agency afterwards?

No. Your team handles copy, images, CMS items and new pages built from existing components. For new components or integrations you bring in help, without an upgrade cycle in the background.
